1991-1998 – Chief Editor of the Human and Social Sciences Journal „Cugetul”, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Moldova;
1985-1991 – Senior Laboratory Scientific Assistant, the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova;
1980 – Teacher of History and Human and Social Sciences at the Secondary School of the village of Dubăsarii Vechi, raion Criuleni;
2000-2009 – Deputy Chair of the Association of Historians of the Republic of Moldova;
1999-2007 – Chief Editor of the Journal of History and Culture „Cugetul”.
Family status: Married, father of a child.
By Presidential Decree No. 4-V of 25 September 2009, Ion Negrei is appointed Deputy Prime Minister.
